O'Brien Technologies, Inc. is a Roanoke, Virginia based Corporation formed to design, manufacture, market and sell Speech Generating Devices (SGDs). These devices are designed to assist Speech Language Pathologists and other healthcare professionals who treat individuals with severe communication disabilities. The Company holds a provisional US Patent and has made applications for International Patents on its new speech generating system. This patent will cover most European Countries, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Israel.

SGDs are used as a supplementary mode of communication to augment existing communication strategies and can be configured or customized to address most communication needs.

They do not offer a cure but are used as part of an effective treatment program. The goal is to correct expressive communication disabilities that preclude effective communication and allow the user to communicate and have meaningful participation in daily activities.
